GONE WITH THE WIND Historic house of the Almada family restored in 1956-60 by Walter and Ida
Franklin and described in her book "Las Delicias". Location of many weddings and parties. House looks like it belongs
in the movie "Gone With The Wind". The house was originally constructed 1856 by Don Bartolome Almada as his second
home (he called it his "Pavilion"). He was one of the wealthy owners of the silver mines in Aduana. Circa 1910 Pancho
Villas troops used the living room to stable their horses. Local legends say the house is haunted by a young woman who wears
a white fringed rebosa and arranges a white flower in her hair while waiting for her lover. She always appears in the moonlight
and her reflection does not appear in any mirrors. The house is not colonial but is rather built in the Greek Revival-Neoclassic
style that was popular at the time (1850s) on the Southern Plantations of the USA. Large front lawn (largest in Alamos)
and palm trees leading up to a front porch with huge pillars going up two stories. 4 bedroom, 4 bath, swimming pool, fish
pond, fountain, huge ancient fig tree, 2 store rooms, no furniture, kitchen, living room ceiling is 2 stories high,
fireplaces. House is about 800 sq meters under roof. On 3 hectaries (7.4 acres) of land, orchard, 2 wells, pressure tank
and pump. Roofs just rebuilt and the swimming pool is being rebuilt 600,000 usd
